Our favourite sunset over Douro River
Jardim do Morro is one of our favourite places to enjoy the sunset in Vila Nova de Gaia. A lovely garden space, perfect for relaxing and laying out a towel, while enjoying a late afternoon drink.
Next to the upper deck of D. Luís bridge and the Monastery of Serra do Pilar, the garden has an incredible view that follows the twists and turns of the Douro river all the way to the ocean. The area attracts many people throughout the day, with its open-air amphitheatre, a café and a frequent flea market. But it comes into its own at sundown.
In the summer, it often has DJ sets in the afternoon, as well as some open air concerts in the evening.
If you fancy a stroll, Jardim do Morro is just a 15-minute walk from The Rebello. Alternatively, you can always take the cable car from Cais de Gaia to the garden. Available between 10am and 8pm during the summer, it’s a great way to appreciate the city views
